Boston’s Arts, Culture Nonprofits Lag Other Cities in Key Areas

massnonprofit news ::: "January 22, 2016 — Although Boston arts and cultural organizations raise funds from individuals at higher levels than those in 10 comparable cities across the country, small and mid-sized organizations do not receive significant foundation support, and Boston is the only metro area where federal support outweighs state and local funding, according to a report published yesterday by The Boston Foundation.

“The absence of robust foundation and government, involvement is as important as the missing dollars,” according to TDC, a Boston-based nonprofit management consulting and research firm that developed the report, How Boston and Other American Cities Support and Sustain the Arts."
