Health Insurers' Losses Could Raise Pressures on Nonprofits

massnonprofit news ::: "March 12, 2016 — Four large nonprofit health insurers, which together provide health care coverage for most Massachusetts residents, recently reported operating losses in 2015, which could lead to further premium hikes, increasing financial stress on nonprofit organizations of all sizes statewide.

Health insurance premiums in 2016 were slated to rise at a hefty clip this before the operating losses were reported, as follows: 6% – 12% for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, 5% for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, 3% – 7% for Tufts Health Plan, and 9.5% for Fallon Health. "
